One of the major design efforts from Morrelli and Melvin in 1995 was the new NACRA Inter 18. This quick 18 foot beach catamaran has proven itself by dominating the competition in the fast growing European Formula 18 class. The Inter 18 features a high aspect sailplan with an asymmetrical spinnaker. The daggerboards and rudders are high aspect ratio as well, for blistering upwind performance. The deck layout has been kept clean, straightforward, and efficient. Inter18. Flying a hull. Aft quadrant isometric view. The uniquely shaped high volume hulls allow the boat to be driven hard in rough conditions. An optional carbon fiber mast can be ordered instead of the standard Formula 18 aluminum rig. A light carbon fiber rig is easier to step, increases performance, and makes the boat easier to right after a capsize.
